Zackary Naoumides Obituary

Zackary Nicholas Naoumides passed away tragically in a Cheshire house fire on August 12, 2025 with his rescued pitbull mix Paige by his side. Zack was born on December 9, 1992 to Nicholas Naoumides and Lori Stocks. He is survived by both parents and his sister, Alyssa Naoumides.

Zack had a love for animals and the outdoors. An avid fisherman, Zack was known to stay up to all hours of the night rigging lobster traps. He loved kayaking and ocean boat fishing with his father. Zack was the other half of Heritage Animal Hospital where he was Dr. Nick's right-hand man and veterinary assistant. Known for his charisma, beautiful blue eyes and contagious smile, Zack was adored by human and furry clients alike. Dr. Nick would say that the clients came to the practice to see Zack every bit as much as him.

Among family and friends, Zack was known as the peacekeeper. He always approached every situation with kindness, empathy, and insight beyond his years. He was often known for his calming nature, goofy sense of humor, and crazy dance moves. His sister and mother recall that Zack would cheer them up by busting out the most ridiculous dance moves until sad tears turned into tears of laughter. Zack was a talented artist and enjoyed MMA.  Zack had dreams to return to school to be a wound care nurse because he wanted to be able to help others overcome health challenges like he had.

Zack is thought to have run back into the fire to try to save Paige, who was his steadfast companion. The two of them had an incredible bond and fiercely loved and protected one another. Zack was well known for his fearlessness and putting others before himself. As a child, he saved his father's life by swimming him to shore after their boat sank in Long Island Sound. He was tenacious and let's face it...even stubborn at times.  He was a genuinely gentle and loving person.  His life was too short but his love is forever.

The family will be doing a private service with a public memorial to be announced at a later date. Prospect memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with the Naoumides family throughout their grief journey.  Visit prospectmemorial.com to share your words of comfort and support.
