William E. Fennelly, Jr. “Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Brother”
William E. Fennelly, Jr., 80, of Naugatuck, entered into the gates of heaven, Thursday, July 20, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bill was born on April 23, 1943, son of the late William and Dora (Brooks) Fennelly. He was born in Waterbury and graduated from Croft High School. He went on to serve in the United States Navy for four years where he was stationed at Quonset Point, R.I. Bill worked at Treadwell Corp for many years as a Quality Control Manager. He also worked alongside his son at Weathertite Systems. During retirement, Bill made deliveries for NAPA, Autozone and O’Reilly Auto.
Bill loved karate. He received his blackbelt from Jeff Goldberg and went on to teach karate for a while. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed his trips to the casino. He loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are the love of his life, his wife of 57 years- Phyllis (Hamel) Fennelly, his son Scott Fennelly, his daughter Sheila (Robert) DeJesus, his grandchildren Scott (Camille) Fennnelly, Sean Fennelly, Meghan Fennelly, Spencer DeJesus, Ryan DeJesus and great grandson Julius Carney. Bill also leaves behind his siblings Geraldine Daddona, Virginia Saunders, Kathy (Art) Bly, Raymond (Carmie) Fennelly, Roberta (Joe) Richards, Irene (Vinnie) Dick, sister-in-law- Gail (Bob) Hill, brother-in-law- Bruce (Eileen) Hamel, and several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by two grandchildren- Joshua DeJesus and Faith Fennelly.
Funeral services for Bill will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 12 pm at Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Prospect Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10am to 12pm.
