Virginia "Ginger" (Lombard) Lombardi

Virginia “Ginger” (Lombard) Lombardi, 82, of Prospect, surrounded by her family, passed away at home on Monday, March 15, 2021. She was the wife of the late Thomas Lombardi.

She was born on June 15, 1938 in Waterbury daughter of the late Anthony and Pia (Alessandroni) Lombard.

Ginger, known as Grammy to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was a loving, feisty, and one-of-a-kind woman. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and hosted countless Sunday dinners and BBQ’s with her husband Thomas. Ginger and Thomas created a warm and loving home that made friends and family feel comfortable to stop by for a cup of coffee, or a hot meal, almost any time of the day or night. She never held back and always said it like it was. She would do anything for her family and truly cherished all of the time spent making memories over the years. She will always be in our hearts.

Virginia is survived by four children Thomas (Barbara) Lombardi of Prospect, Celeste Lombardi of Waterbury, Tony Lombardi of Prospect and Catherine Lombardi of Prospect, six grandchildren Nicole Lombardi, Richard (Theresa) Colangelo, Leon Lombardi, Lisa Colangelo, Anthony Lombardi and Colleen (Kyle) Colangelo and seven great grandchildren Tori, Connor, Hannah, Grace, Isabella, Allen and Abigail. She also leaves two sisters Patricia Adamitis of Waterbury and Antonia Rennenberg of Georgia along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Thomas Lombardi, she was predeceased by a brother Nicholas Lombard and a sister Claudia Cochiola.

The funeral will be at 12:30 pm on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Calling hours will be from 10:30 am until the time of the service. All state and CDC guidelines will be adhered to, including wearing of mask and social distancing.
