Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather

Vicente Lopez, 87, of Ansonia passed away peacefully while surrounded by the love of his beloved family on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital.  Vicente was the devoted husband of Annette (Rios) Lopez for 17 wonderful years.  Born July 19, 1936 in Gurabo, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Cecilio Lopez and Amada Valasquez. 

Vicente was a friendly face in uniform for the students of Baruck College in New York while working as a security guard.  After retirement, he spent many hours perfecting his woodworking abilities making whatever projects came to his mind.  Much to his family’s benefit, Vicente loved to cook.  His creations were delicious.  He also enjoyed watching boxing, fishing, feeding the birds and collecting model automobiles.

Being one of 8 children, Vicente enjoyed lively phone conversations catching up on the day to day life of his family.  Family was everything to Vicente.  The past seventeen years went by quickly for Annette and Vicente.  Each moment is now a treasure. He leaves his family with many beautiful memories of time together.

Left to cherish his love and memory beside his wife Annette, Vicente is survived by his stepdaughters Annette Silva (Rashad Johnson) of Bridgeport, Sabrina Ruth Olavarria (Jose Fernandez) of NY and stepson Milton Silva (Marina Neuo) of Ma. and Joe Monroi, as well as 14 grandchildren. Vicente is also survived by his brother Luis Cecilio Valsquez and sister Mercedes Lopez Velasquez.

 Vicente is predeceased by his daughter Sandra Lopez and siblings:  Maria, Jesus, Victor, Venicia, and Jose Ramon Lopez Velasquez.

Friends and family are invited to visit with Vicente’s family on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd, Prospect.  Funeral service with Military Honors will immediately follow at 7:30pm at the funeral home.  Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to be assisting and caring for the Lopez family during this difficult time of grief.  You are invited to share your words of comfort and support on Vicente’s Tribute Wall on this website.
