Veronica "Sylvia" Tappin was born in Kingston, Jamaica on November 9, 1928 to a family with multiple siblings. She passed away peacefully on April 5, 2022 at her home. Our beloved, Sylvia, worked as a seamstress, dressmaker and she created her own patterns. Her children wore her fashions proudly. Sylvia was a top-notch cook worthy of a chef's hat. She was well known for her split pea soup, her curry goat, ackee and saltfish - the Jamaican National Dish. Sylvia enjoyed baking and creating wonderful desserts, like her lemon cake with royal icing. She was sure to always include her love and heart into her meals to nourish her family well.
Veronica "Sylvia" Tappin is survived by her children, Junior Baker, Marcia Tappin-Miller, Yolette Tappin-Bustion, Marilyn Tappin-Neequaye, Patrick Watson, and her youngest Andrea Watson. She has 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Her legacy includes strength, resilience, and an ability to persevere no matter what life brings.
