Thomas Furtado Obituary

Thomas D. Furtado died peacefully November 13, 2025 at Waterbury Hospital while surrounded in the love of his devoted family. Born February 12, 1970, Tom was the youngest child of the late Edward J. Furtado and Jeanne (Dillon) Furtado.  After graduation from Wolcott High School, Tom went on to make his successful career as an automotive technician, earning the respect and friendship of his coworkers and clients.

If you knew Tom, you knew the sound of his laughter, his devotion to his friends and family and his signature phrase: “This is MINT”.  “This is mint, Baby” was the phrase that he used for everything from a thoroughly enjoyed meal to the newest found treasure for his watch collection.  He was a breakfast connoisseur, a NASCAR follower and NHRA drag racing fan.  His family and friends were the joy of his life.  He enjoyed time spent with family and friends, sharing stories and always a good laugh.

Though passing far too soon at 55, Tom leaves behind a legacy of dedication to friends, family and a talent applied to helping others “along the roadway of life”.  He leaves to cherish his love and memory his three sisters Debbie Knapp and her husband Bob of Middlebury, Ellen Feero and her husband Les of Prospect and Lisa Ollero and her husband John of Waterbury and his two brothers Ed Furtado and his wife Karen of Rhode Island and Bruce Furtado and his wife Crista of Terryville.  He also leaves his aunt Eleanor Furtado of Naugatuck, his godsons Michael Furtado and Chaz Ollero , as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Tom is predeceased by his parents and brother Mark.
