Susan B. Gismondi
Beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Friend and Colleague
March 28, 1937 – June 12, 2025
After a courageous battle against cancer, Susan B. Gismondi passed on June 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of friendship, laughter, kindness, and quiet strength. Susan was born in Bridgeport, CT., with 3 wonderful brothers, Howard, Robert, and Ronald Baker. Raised in Fairfield, Easton and Bridgeport, Susan had a tremendous organizational and financial acumen that took her far in a banking and accounting career. She was a dedicated member, pianist and choir singer at the Second Baptist Church of Bridgeport, CT and later a devoted member of Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church. In her golden years, she became a cherished and active member of the Heritage Village community, where her warmth and wit made her a beloved neighbor and friend.
A passionate animal lover, Susan volunteered and fostered cats with Whiskers Pet Rescue, where she gave countless felines a safe and loving home. Her devotion to rescue work and her gentle spirit made her a favorite among both furry companions and fellow volunteers.
Predeceased by her parents, Jayne and Howard Baker, three brothers and husband, Rudolph C. Gismondi, Susan is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Margot and Richard Todaro of North Palm Beach, Florida, as well as several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends whose lives she brightened with her generosity and compassion.
She will be remembered not only for the lives she nurtured — both human and feline — but also for the enduring love she gave to her family, friends and community.
A celebration of Susan’s life will be held at South Britain Congregational Church in Southbury, CT. on Saturday, July 12th at 11:00am. Donations may be made in her memory to Whiskers Pet Rescue and the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center.
