Steven (Steve) Richard Ravenscroft, 63, of Naugatuck, CT died surrounded by family on Saturday January 3rd, 2026 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury CT after succumbing to heart failure.
Steve was born November 13th, 1963 in Southbury, CT, son of the late Kenneth Ravenscroft and Carole (Dinsmore) Ravenscroft.
Steve was a unique soul with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed rock music, British motorcycles, and sipping a cold beer after work while sitting around a fire pit with friends and family.
Steve was a master mechanic who lived and breathed automobiles, and was most in his element under a car with a wrench in his hand. His mechanical skill was unparalleled; rebuilding cars, trucks and motorcycles of all shapes and sizes.
Steve had a brilliant mind that amazed everyone around him. That along with his creative problem-solving skills made him the best mechanic around. Steve was also the most trustworthy mechanic around; he always wanted to make sure his family, friends and community were able to safely travel without breaking the bank. If you didn’t have money, Steve would still make sure the job got done!
Steve’s talents went beyond vehicles; much more than a jack of all trades, he was like a wizard who would come along and always know how to solve any problem! These skills were taught to him by his father, Ken, and were something Steve was passing on to his son, Lucas.
12 years ago, Steve’s life changed in a way he couldn’t imagine when his son, Lucas, was born. From that day, Steve’s entire life revolved around Lucas, and they have been inseparable best friends. They often live in their own father-son world full of history, mechanics and outdoor adventures. Steve and Lucas were always outside and walking. They loved exploring local historical sites and were always seeking out new adventures. When they were home relaxing Steve would cook for Lucas and they would watch Rick & Morty together. Lucas was the light of Steve’s life, and he could not have been a better father. His presence in our life will be sorely missed.
In addition to his father, Steve was predeceased by his older brother Arthur Ravenscroft, and his youngest sister, Sarah Ravenscroft.
In addition to his mother Carole, Steve is survived by his son Lucas Kenneth Ravenscroft, 12, of Naugatuck, daughter Rachel Miller, 35, of Arkansas, 3 sisters: Carolyn Lord of Waterbury, Terry Cox of Naugatuck and Anne Ravenscroft of Texas. Steve also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will dearly miss his brilliant mind and quirky ways.
The family is currently making plans for a Celebration of Life memorial which will be held at a later date. Further details will soon follow.
