Simon Peter Magnarella, 86, of Prospect, passed away suddenly on March 8, 2021, due to complications from COVID, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Carol (Mannello) Magnarella for over 60 years.
He was born on August 26, 1934 in Waterbury son of the late Simon and Alvera (D’Auria) Magnarella. Simon proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from his own printing company, Rollins Rapid Repro after 33 years. He was an avid UCONN Women’s Basketball and NY Mets fan. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather.
Besides his wife Carol, Simon is survived by two daughters Deborah (Robert) Betkoski of Beacon Falls and Melanie (Richard) McNeely of Prospect, two granddaughters Karen (Christopher) Vaccaro and Jennifer (Christopher) Samorajczyk, two grandsons Andrew and Philip McNeely and six great grandchildren Isabella, Adrianna, Nathan, Dylan, Macayla and Brynn. He also leaves a sister Angela (August) Deimantas and a brother Joseph (Alice) Magnarella along with several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother William Magnarella.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at St. Anthony Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect with Military Honors following. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
