Selma Srugis (Lindhammer) 98 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 12, 2023 at Sheriden Woods Healthcare Center. She was the widow of Martin Srugis Sr.
Selma was born in Germany on Feb 12, 1925, the daughter of the late Karl and Alma (Konig) Lindhammer. She came to the United States in 1956 and settled in Waterbury. She worked at Waterbury Hospital for 25 years as a Dietary Supervisor, retiring in 1990.
Selma was an accomplished cook and baker. She was the go-to baker for our family and church events. She enjoyed gardening, reading, restaurants, theater and Cape Cod. Her passion was fashion. She had a deep love for animals especially her cats, dogs and her parrot Pepe.
She leaves two sons, Martin Srugis Jr (Deborah) of NH and Robert Srugis of MA and 3 daughters Gertrude Srugis of Wolcott, Andrea Caron (Philippe) and Gloria Bohuski (Thomas) both of Prospect, 6 grandsons: Kristopher Srugis, Matthew Srugis, Eric and Andrew Caron (Brittney), Michael and James Bohuski and 2 granddaughters Carissa McCann (Brian) and Jaime Pearson (Patrick). She also leaves 6 great grandchildren Lucy and Ryan Pearson, Abigail and Danielle McCann, Mitchell and Anderson Caron.
Arrangements: Visitation Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 9am to 10am at Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect. Funeral services for Selma will follow at 10:30 am at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 1555 Hamilton Ave., Waterbury. Interment will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery.
