Sarah Murphy Obituary

Sarah T. “Sally” (McCann) Murphy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at MidState Medical Center. She was preceded in death by John “Jack” Murphy Sr. her beloved husband.  Born August 6, 1937 in Waterbury, CT, Sally was the daughter of the late Horace and Sarah (Sullivan) McCann.  She was educated in the Naugatuck school system, a lifelong resident of Prospect, CT, and a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church.

Sally was a wonderful lady and a gift to all who knew her.  As the center of the Murphy family, she was everything to everyone at all times and with coffee, cooking, and baking in tow.  From trips to Florida to Vermont and everywhere in between, Sally brought her generosity and love of life wherever she went.  No matter where life took her, Sally remained an avid duckpin bowler for over 40 years in several area leagues, sharing countless afternoons and evenings with friends.

Sally’s world was her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandson – with each new addition offering new adventures, celebrations, and fun.  Left to honor and cherish her love and memory are her daughter Sally and husband Stephen Guglielmo of Avon, and sons John Jr. “Jack” and wife Lola Murphy and Kevin and wife Kelley Murphy both of Prospect, her adoring grandchildren Christa and husband Dave Cubeta, Dana, Stephanie and Stephen Jr. Guglielmo, Erin and Rachel Murphy and great grandson Desmond Jack Cubeta.   Sally is also survived by her dear sister and best friend Roseann Pagoni, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Sally is preceded in death by her brothers George, Thomas, Marshall, Horace, James, Donald, and Gordon and her sister Mary Margaret.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect.  Funeral procession to the church will leave Prospect Memorial Funeral Home at 10:15 AM.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd, Prospect.

Sally’s family would like to thank Dr. Gerard Fumo and the staff at MidState Medical Center for their compassionate and skilled care.
