Sara E. Bement

On May 14 th 2025, at 2:17 am Sara (Hewitt) Bement took her final breath.

Born February 16, 1942, in Torrington, CT. She graduated from Torrington High School in 1960 and began working as a hairdresser. She married the love of her life on October 26, 1972.
In September of 1977, her wish to become a mother came true. In 1979, they moved to Winchester Center, where they resided until 2003.

They were foster parents to 13 kids in 15 years during their marriage. They started the first foster parent support group in Litchfield County. She was an avid knitter, quilter, and baker; she won many awards for her crafts. She was an active member of Winchester Grange #74 for over 50 years and a lifetime member of United Congregational Church until her passing.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Parker, partner Lea Norton, Tina Perotti, her grandkids, Levi and Kaige Parker, Tammy and James Phelps, Nathan Perotti, Nikki, and
Taylor Ibell, her brother John and wife Dee Hewitt, as well as many close family and friends, especially Pam Wright and Karen Giarnese, who were and have remained
immense support. All will greatly miss her.

Family is hosting  A celebration of life  on May 31, 2025 at 11am, at United Congregational Church,1622 Torringford St. Torrington, CT.
