Roberta Marie Accetura passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, in the presence of her loving family. Roberta was born July 9, 1941 in Waterbury, CT, a daughter of the late Conjetto and Laura (LaSalata) Romeo. Roberta was the beloved wife of Robert Accetura Sr. of Prospect. Together, they shared a remarkable love story that spanned 69 years. Their relationship was one of love, devotion, partnership, and mutual admiration, creating a strong and enduring bond that was evident to all who knew them.
Roberta was a woman of many talents and accomplishments and she approached life with enthusiasm and creativity. After raising her children, she worked as an Office Manager for Dr. DeLuca at Eye Care Associates in Hamden. Later, alongside her husband, she became Dean of The Hair Technology Institute, and went on to manage their franchise, Regal Haircolor of Connecticut. Once retired she was never one to stop creating. She loved making jewelry and Roberta established her own jewelry business, Roberta’s Jewelry Creations, sharing her artistic talents with others.
An active member of the Prospect Running Club, Roberta was also a Yoga, Pilates, and Aerobics instructor who inspired many through her dedication to health and wellness. In her leisure time, she enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, and a variety of creative hobbies that reflected her vibrant spirit.
Together, Roberta and Bob raised their three sons, Robert, Mark, and Dean, in Prospect. While her accomplishments were many, nothing brought Roberta greater joy than her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her heart. Known affectionately as “Nanny,” she cherished every moment spent with them. Her beautiful smile would light up the room whenever they came to visit, and her love, warmth, and gentle presence will be forever remembered.
Besides her devoted husband Bob, who lovingly cared for her throughout her illness, Roberta leaves her unconditional love and memories to her sons, Robert Scarano and his husband Vince of Palm Springs,Ca., Mark and his wife Kelly of Terryville, and Dean and his wife Lisa of Prospect. Roberta also leaves her cherished grandchildren: Mark Jr and wife Jenny, Kailyn and husband Mike Kenney, Julia Accetura and Dean M.Accetura, and Nico and Marley. She also welcomed two sweet great grandchildren Eliana and Lila.Roberta is predeceased by her sisters Angela Pagliarulo and Joann George.
Family and friends are invited to honor Roberta's life on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Prospect Memorial / The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Road, Prospect. A time for sharing eulogies and cherished memories will begin at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. All those planning to attend Mass are kindly asked to meet directly at church.
