Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Veteran
Robert W. Moore, 78, of Prospect, passed away peacefully at his home on April 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 7, 1947, in New Haven, Robert was the son of the late John and Regina (Granato) Moore. He shared 56 years of blessed marriage with Nancy (Hintz) Moore.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, an experience that shaped him in lasting ways. The friendships he formed during that time became lifelong bonds, and he treasured the annual reunions with his fellow shipmates from the USS Lloyd Thomas.
A man of both intelligence and determination, Robert earned his sixth-year degree in industrial engineering and built a successful career in the manufacturing industry. After his retirement, he went on to start his own tax preparation business, where he continued to help others with the same diligence and integrity that defined his life.
Above all, Robert was a devoted family man. In addition to his loving wife, Nancy, he was a proud and devoted father to his sons, Jason (Kristen) and Christopher (Tina), and is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Robin, wife of his late son, Jared Moore, who passed just six months prior.
Robert’s greatest joy was his family. He was a constant presence in his sons’ lives, serving as their coach and biggest supporter throughout their childhood. He carried that same unwavering dedication into his role as a grandfather, taking immense pride in the lives of his cherished grandchildren: Oliver, Aiden, Lexi, Jameson, Evan, Linnea, and Emily.
He also remained a devoted supporter of his two older sons’ adult league hockey team, never missing a game and forming lasting friendships with all the members of “Moe’s Bar.” Robert had a deep love for sports, especially football, hockey, and baseball.
In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his brother, Larry Moore (Joan) of Brewster, Massachusetts; his sisters, Peggy Shanley (Pat) and Janis Panagrossi (John), both of Hamden; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
Robert will be remembered for his strength, intelligence, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. A man of deep Roman Catholic faith, his life was a testament to love, service, and devotion—to his family, his faith, and his country.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Veterans Administration staff for the compassionate and expert care provided to Robert over the past several years.
