It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Robert Giammattei Sr. at his home in Prospect on Saturday, June 14, 2025. He was the loving father of Robert Giammattei Jr and Jennie Giammattei- Maloney and Phyllis Giammattei. Born June 26, 1949, Bob was a son of the late Louis Gammattei and Jennie Mingione- Giammattei.
Bob was a talented painter and a longtime member of the Painters Union. He was very proud of his Italian heritage and was very active in his membership along with his son Bobby with the Sons of Italy Club of Southington. He was an accomplished pool player and was a member of the Amateur Pool Association for many years. He also enjoyed bocce and was a winner at playing poker and craps. If you knew Bob, you knew he was an avid Nascar fan and faithful fan of the NY Yankees.
Family was most important to Bob. His children were his pride and joy, his cherished grandchildren were the light of his life. Bob was a treasured uncle, cousin, brother in law and friend. His laughter, companionship, guidance and love will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Left to cherish his love and honor his memory are his son Robert Giammattei Jr and wife Jessica Schiopucie of Southington, daughters Jennie Giammattei-Maloney and husband Richard Maloney of Terryville and Phyllis Giammattei of Winsted. He will be missed by his cherished grandchildren Joseph, Matthew and Spencer Giammattei , Joshua and Ryan Van Dyke, and Allison and Emily Perry. He also leaves his sister in law Janice Vasil and many good friends who were like family to Bob. Bob is predeceased by his brothers Thomas, Raymond, and Angelo Giammattei and sister Julie Rochlin as well as his parents.
Arrangements: Visitation will be held on Monday June 16, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 (newest location) Waterbury Rd., Prospect. Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday June 17, 2025 at 10 am at All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven CT. The family will receive guests at the funeral home at 9am. Procession to All Saints Cemetery will leave the funeral home at 9:30am.
In lieu of flowers and in light of Bob’s unexpected passing, monetary donations to off set funeral expenses are greatly appreciated by his family.
