Robert Druan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert E. Druan, Sr., who passed away on June 7, 2026, at the age of 92.

Born on November 12, 1933 in Waterbury, CT.  Robert lived a life rooted in service, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys found in family and nature.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he carried the values of duty, integrity, and quiet strength throughout his life. Following his military service, he dedicated many years of his career to Anaconda Brass, where he worked as a toolmaker. His strong work ethic, reliability, and craftsmanship earned the respect of those who worked alongside him.

Beyond his career, Robert found great happiness outdoors. Whether he was casting a fishing line, spending the day on his boat, watching birds from a favorite spot, or taking one of his daily walks surrounded by nature, he found peace in the natural world. He appreciated life's quieter moments and never needed much more than fresh air, open water, and the company of his friends and family.

Above all else, he was a devoted family man. He treasured time spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many gatherings that created memories to last generations. His love was steady, unconditional, and often expressed not through grand gestures, but through his presence, wisdom, and unwavering support. He taught those around him the value of hard work, resilience, humility, and finding joy in life's simple pleasures.

He is survived by his children: Diana Yalen of Mystic, CT, and Robert Druan, Jr. of Twin Peaks, CA, his grandchildren: Heather Jimenez and husband, Ramses Jimenez and children Mateo and Luna,Tarah and Amanda Schaeffer of Pennsylvania, Jonathan Yalen and wife, Jordan of Westerly, RI,Kathryn Balestracci and husband, Nick, and children Aila, Everly, and Elowyn of Pawcatuck, CT, Christian Druan and partner Tiersa Jones and children Annabella and Adalyn, of California, Justin, Matthew, and Ariana Druan, of California, adopted grandaughter, Alicia Mendoza and wife Hattie Samuel of Newington, CT as well as nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

A Mass of Christian burial for Robert will be Thursday, July 16, 2026 at The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St., Waterbury.  Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.  All those planning to attend Bob’s funeral mass are asked to go directly to the church.  Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with services and to care for the Druan during this difficult time.
