Richard Perkins Obituary
Richard S. Perkins, 73, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, March 28, 2022. Rick was the loving husband of Cathy (Burns) Perkins for over 48 years. He was born January 9, 1949 in Waterbury a son of the late Ralph S. Perkins and Dorothy (Andrews) Perkins.
A graduate of Naugatuck High School, he went on to attend college in Boston. Rick retired from Hartley & Parker Limited, Inc. where he was employed for over 25 years. After retirement he spent his free time repurposing and refurbishing old keepsakes and fixing projects around the house. He lovingly tended to the flowers in his yard, where he collected his many "yard spinners". Rick loved to cook and had many recipes that were favorites of his family. Rick was a caretaker, animal and baby whisperer, and loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with a grandchild or attend their sporting event. They will miss their Grandpa cheering them on.
The family has vacationed for over 40 years in Willsboro, NY on Lake Champlain. This was Rick's favorite place to be. It is a quiet place, where he enjoyed reading his first edition Kindle, playing games, and watching the wonderful sunsets. The family was often joined by friends of Jeff and Matt, and today with their spouses and children.
Left to cherish his love and memory are his wife Cathy, sons Jeffrey and his wife Kristen Perkins of Wethersfield, and Matthew and his wife Kyla Boyce of Burlington, VT, and his three precious grandchildren Kelsey, Brayden and Sophia Perkins. Rick is also survived by his sisters Judy Martz and her husband Fred of Hamden and June Flynn of Benson, VT, as well as several nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. In addition to his parents, Rick was predeceased by his brother Ralph A. Perkins.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 12noon at Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd, Prospect. Friends and family are invited to visit with Rick's family on Monday from 10 am until the time of the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
