Priscilla Thornton, 86, of Stratford passed away peacefully while embraced in the love of her dear friends on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Priscilla was the mother of Camille L. Thornton, who predeceased her on March 3, 2002. Priscilla was born February 3, 1938 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, a daughter of the late Edward and Edith (Gosselin) Thornton.
She was also predeceased by her brothers, Edward A. Thornton and Samuel R. Thornton; three sisters, Ruth Thornton Karpuk, Linda Thornton, and Cynthia (Thornton) Mastroni. Priscilla is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Priscilla was always full of life and loved to have conversations with everyone around her. After retiring as an Office Manager and Administrative Specialist she liked spending her time at Shakespeare Park in Stratford, where she enjoyed the warm breeze and the calm waters of the Long Island Sound. She loved bringing her faithful companion, Sinjin, to the park to play with other dogs. She also enjoyed going to the Stratford Community Center to spend time with friends and working on puzzles.
Priscilla kept a treasured journal where she wrote loving messages to her daughter, Camille, whom she missed dearly. A day never went by where Priscilla did not think of her daughter. Camille’s dearest friend, Giovanna (Perri) Franchi, invited Priscilla into her family where she was always a part of all special family events and milestones as well as holiday parties. She has been a part of Giovanna’s family and extended family for over 20 years. Priscilla loved being a part of the family so much that she considered herself an honorary grandmother to nine grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by all of us and be forever in our hearts.
Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to assist and care for Priscilla and her family during this time and invites you to share your words of comfort for her on her tribute wall.
