Pedro Gonzalez Obituary

Pedro Gonzalez
March 25, 1934 – October 11, 2025

Mr. Pedro Gonzalez, 91, of Waterbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 11, 2025.

Born on March 25, 1934, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, Pedro was the beloved son of the late Jose and Justina (Rivera) Gonzalez. One of eight siblings, he was raised with a strong work ethic and deep family values- traits that would define his life.

Pedro spent most of his life working as a farmer, a vocation he pursued with pride, skill, and great attention to detail. Whether in the fields or in his own backyard garden, Pedro’s hands were never idle. He was meticulous and hardworking, and also lovingly raised chickens and roosters. His green thumb and tireless spirit were matched only by his talents in the kitchen. He was especially known for his delicious arroz con gandules, a dish beloved by family and friends alike.

A devoted father and wonderful father-in-law, Pedro had an immense love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His sense of humor, warm heart, and quick wit made him the family jokester, always ready with a laugh or playful tease.

He loved returning to Puerto Rico to visit the beaches he cherished, and also enjoyed traveling to Florida to soak up the sun. A dedicated baseball fan, Pedro never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite team, the Philadelphia Phillies.

Pedro was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gloria Gonzalez, and his great-great-grandchild, Josue. He is survived by his six children: Eduardo Gonzalez of New Jersey; Carmen Gonzalez of Waterbury; Merquiades Gonzalez of Pennsylvania; Mariaezel Daddona of Waterbury; Nancy Salazar and her husband Marco of Florida; and Rafael Gonzalez of Waterbury.

He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Pedro’s legacy is one of love, laughter, dedication, and resilience. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
