Patricia Turmel Obituary

Beloved Wife, Mother, Gram and Gigi

Patricia Belle Turmel, 84, of Oakville, formerly of Oxford, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2024 at her home with her loving husband, Ronald T. Turmel Sr and children by her side. Patty was born February 1, 1941 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Herbert and Margaret (Stanton) Hill.

Patty and Ron married as teenagers and went on to spend 67 wonderful years together. Most of those years were spent on their farm in Oxford.  Patty was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She poured her love into her canning and cooking, each dish more delicious than the last.  And, who could forget that famous chocolate cake?  No matter the time of day or night, when the work was done, a delicious meal was ready to be enjoyed.  Patty and Ron were a great team, they hosted pig roasts for over 200 people without a hitch.    Patty was never one to shy away from a challenge- she rode horses and competed in barrel races and won many trophies.  She was also an expert upholsterer.  Sons Ron and Andy knew the tender spot for their mother was flowers.  Daisies were her favorite.  Over the years Patty worked at many jobs but certainly her most enjoyable position was growing flowers and tending plants at her sister Rita’s Farm Market and at Henry’s Farm.

Family was Patty’s greatest joy.  As her sons married and her family grew, Patty had more love to share.   Her heart was filled with pride as she cheered on her grandsons at all their events.  Her joys multiplied with the births of her great grandchildren. As wife, mother, sister, aunt, Gram or Gigi; Patty treasured all the moments raising her family and spending time creating memories for all to cherish.

Patty leaves to treasure her love and memory, beside her husband Ron, her sons Ronald Jr and his wife Susan of Watertown and Andy and his wife Sandy of Oxford.  Gram leaves her loving grandsons Ronald lll and his wife Mary of Watertown and Drew of Oxford.  And of course, the sun rose and set on Gigi’s great grandchildren Remington and Ryder.  She leaves behind her fur companion Daisy.  She leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Patty is predeceased by her sisters Wendy Jannetty, Margaret Pelkey and Rita LaRovera.

The family would like to thank the incredible Hartford Health Hospice team, led by Jesse, Lee, and Marie along with the countless others who cared for Pat over the last 8 months.  Their compassion is immeasurable.  A very special, loving thank you to the newest member of the family, Kayla.  She cared tirelessly for Pat and still tends to Ron every day.
