Omayra Garcia Moreno

Mrs. Omayra Garcia Moreno, 73, of Naugatuck passed away at Beacon Brook Health Center on Friday, May 30, 2025 while surrounded by the love of her close friends and godchildren.

Omayra was born in Cupica, Colombia on October 21, 1951 to Justiniano and Elida (Moreno) Garcia. She completed her studies in Colombia and emigrated later in her life to Connecticut to pursue better work opportunities. Although she traveled and settled alone here in Naugatuck, her vibrant personality drew others close to her and she created an adopted family of close friends and companions that delighted in her presence.

As an incredibly devoted woman, you could expect to see Omayra at every church service she could attend at St. Anne’s in Waterbury. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and godmother as well as a cherished member of the community.

Omayra is survived by her siblings Olga, Aquilina, Justiniana and Otoniel Garcia Moreno as well as her godchildren Saul, Scarlett, and Sherie Pujols and Luisa Maria. She is also survived by her close friends/adopted family Adriana Melendez and Varis Pujols of Naugatuck. She joins her late parents in Heaven, along with Fanny, Hector and Lorenzo Justininano Garcia Moreno.

A funeral mass for Omayra will take place at 11 a.m. on June 6th, 2025 at her beloved St. Anne’s Church at 515 S Main St, Waterbury, CT 06706.
