Nicholas Fusco Obituary

Nicholas Fusco, 57, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at VITAS Hospice Care at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. Nick was the loving husband of Laura (Dreher) Fusco, who recently celebrated their 30-year wedding anniversary in September.

Nick was born on December 24, 1964 in Waterbury, a son of Beverly (Raimo) and Fiorino Fusco. He grew up in Prospect. He graduated from Wilby High School in 1982.  Nick always stayed active and focused on his body fitness, which included taking Taekwondo.

Nick was considered Mr. Fix It and a “Jack of all trades” who seemed to have an endless wealth of knowledge about so many different things. With his sharp mind and skilled hands, he could seemingly fix (or make) anything. He enjoyed tinkering on cars, working on inventions, cooking, and his favorite past time was snowmobiling. At a time, he had even built a homemade snowmobile and an Evel Knievel ramp in his backyard! For much of his life Nick worked with heavy machinery in construction, and for over the past 15 years he had worked for Dalling Construction in Stratford. He was also a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 478.

Nick loved his family with all his heart and always put them first. He loved spending time with them and they would often take short trips together. He and his wife Laura had a tradition every Sunday of getting breakfast and then taking a daytrip to the casino. In the summer his family would pack a lunch and spend the day cruising Highland Lake, swimming, and making memories. In the winter him and his buddies would make trips to Vermont and New Hampshire for a long weekend of snowmobiling. The sun rose and set for his three granddaughters (His A Team). He and his girls were very much a unit and his pride and joy.

Nick had a warm and loving heart. He was a helping hand to anyone who needed him.  He will be missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

In addition to his wife and parents, left to cherish Nick’s memory is his daughter Amanda Bianchi of Middlebury and his three granddaughters Ashlyn, Alyssa, and Addison Bianchi; sister Kathy and husband Roger Evitts along with their daughter Sarah Evitts of Cheshire. He is also survived by 7 brothers-in-law; 8 sisters-in-law; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends, including his best friend Randy Smith.

Nick is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Louis and Josephine Raimo; his maternal grandparents Nicola and Filomena Fusco; and his brother-in-law Paul Dreher.
