Munkwon Keloosed Benedict

Munkwon (Gwen) K. Benedict, 43, passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Munkwon is survived by her mother, Patty Benedict; her father, Peter Junta; her 4 children, Wasalie, Mamijola, Aviana, and Shalena; her sister, Menuhki; her niece, Sky; and countless other family members and close friends. Munkwon grew up in Waterbury, surrounded by her beloved native community, and was an active part of both the Abenaki and Mi’kmaq tribes. She had a passion for singing and drumming with her friends and family and deeply enjoyed acting and participating in musical theater. Munkwon was an avid contributor to the community and helped people in any way possible, as demonstrated by her dedication to 13 years in nursing. Anyone who had the opportunity to meet Munkwon knows how beautiful she was, both inside and out. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
