Michelle DiBona Obituary

Michelle Lee (Scozzafava) DiBona, 50, of Prospect entered into heavenly rest while surrounded by the love of her family at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on February 21, 2024 after a brave and valiant battle with leukemia.  She was the loving wife of Frank DiBona and mother of Jake and Lila DiBona.  Born on February 6 , 1974 in Waterbury, Michelle was the daughter of Louis and Mary Ann (George) Scozzafava.

After graduating from Sacred Heart University, Michelle went onto a successful and rewarding career as a physical therapist, most recently working at UCONN Medical Center.    As a young couple, she and Frank spent many weekends in NYC taking in the sights and sounds of the busy city. After Jake and Lila were born the family would vacation by the water.  Michelle loved the outdoors; hiking, camping by the lake and spending time in nature, or relaxing at the beach.

Michelle was all about her kids.  The sun rose and set on them.  She fought hard to be present at their school functions, sporting events and to just be together.  She was a wonderful loving Mom; her kids were her life. Her three best days were the day she married Frank and the birth of Jake and Lila.  Michelle loved spending time with her big extended family.

Friendly, caring, devoted and determined are just a few of the adjectives to describe Michelle.  Her love and memory will remain strong in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.  Michelle is survived by her devoted husband Frank, son Jake and daughter Lila, her loving parents Louis and Mary Ann Scozzafava of Wolcott and brother Jason and wife Dana Scozzafava of Woodbury as well as nieces Gwenevere and Fiona Scozzafava and Haley DiBona.  She is also survived by her father-in-law and mother-in- law Frank and Kathy DiBona of Wolcott and brother-in- law Nick and wife Stephanie DiBona also of Wolcott as well as many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins , friends, and her puppy Cayden.

Friends and family are invited to visit with Michelle’s family on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 10am to 11am at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Church, 8 East Mountain Rd., Waterbury.  A Catholic mass and burial will begin at 11 am at the church.  Entombment will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.  Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to be assisting and caring for the DiBona family during this difficult time of grief.  Please visit www.prospectmemorial.com to share your words of comfort and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Leukemia Society, the American Red Cross or to a charity of your choosing are greatly appreciated.  Perhaps you would also consider donating blood.  Throughout Michelle’s illness, the many transfusions she received brought her more precious time with her family, a gift for which was eternally grateful.
