Michael Robert Scaviola, 73, of Prospect passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 22, 2026 after a brief and courageous illness with cholangiocarcinoma. Son of the late Michael A and Florence Scaviola, Mike grew up in Waterbury, where he met his beloved wife, Charlotte, as a teenager. They shared 51 years of marriage, building a lifetime of love, commitment, and shared adventure. Together, they built their life in Prospect, where they raised their two children and created a life centered on family.
Mike’s career at UPS spanned 37 years, encompassing a wide range of roles, from handling packages early on to managing the southern New England automotive fleet, before his retirement in 2007. He remained deeply involved in his community, contributing to Prospect Soccer in his children’s early years, participating as an Officer in the Lions Club, co-founding WRHS Fine Arts Club, and pursuing public service through two mayoral campaigns in Prospect. He was honored to serve as a Justice of the Peace and took great joy in officiating weddings, including his daughter’s marriage in 2020.
Adventurous and social by nature, Mike embraced both everyday routines and new experiences with enthusiasm. He cherished family vacations and shared a special connection to the Bahamas, where he and Charlotte returned many times over the years, most recently with their children and grandchildren just before his passing. He could often be found enjoying morning coffee with friends, bartending at Mirabelle’s Restaurant, gardening, and continuing to enjoy his background as a mechanic by working on cars.
A devoted father, he shared a close bond with both of his children. He shared his sense of adventure with his daughter through trying unique foods and exploring new places together. Mike passed along his practical wisdom and sense of self-sufficiency to his son, using his background as a mechanic to teach car repair, and working together on home improvement projects. He brought that same spirit of support and encouragement to his grandchildren, proudly attending their sports practices and extracurricular activities.
He will be remembered for his strength, generosity, and devotion to family, defined by hard work, love, and cherished traditions.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte Scaviola, son Michael Scaviola and wife Kristina Scaviola of Redding, daughter Laura Scaviola and husband Josh Neagle of Wallingford, grandsons Michael (Teo) Scaviola and Max Scaviola, his sister Lorraine Scaviola Duffy of Waterford, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
