Maurice Fortier, 75, of Prospect, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. He was the loving husband of Anne (Bracken) Fortier for over 51 years.

He was born on April 22, 1946 in Waterbury, son of the late Lucien and Annette (LaMadeleine) Fortier.  Maurice proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.  He was employed as a Collections Supervisor at Jacobs Engineering Group where he continued to work up until the time of his illness.

Family was everything to Maurice.  He loved to travel and enjoyed cooking and listening to George Jones.  Maurice was a horseman and a farrier. But more importantly, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend; his smile, his joy, and his love will be so terribly missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Besides his wife Anne, Maurice is survived by his children Maureen (Daniel) Miller of Cheshire; Maurice (Sandra) Fortier of Wyoming; Mark (Kelly) Fortier of Prospect; Megan (Steven) Patchkofsky of Prospect and seven grandchildren Elizabeth, Rebecca, Ryan, Kaley, Riley, Cori, and Tyler. He also leaves his brothers and their families, Lucien, Robert, Denis, Raymond and George; his sisters and their families, Cecile, Theresa, Noella, Helen and Anne Marie; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his brothers Leo, Richard and Charlie and his sister Diane Lauber.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial with Military Honors will follow at New St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Road, Cheshire. Calling hours will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, August 10 at the Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd., Prospect.
