Mary Ann Gardino Obituary

Mary Ann “Anna” Gardino, 99, of Waterbury entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 while surrounded by the love of her family at Vitas Hospice IPU St. Mary’s Hospital. Anna was the widow of the late Gerald P. Gardino. Born February 21, 1923 in Waterbury, Anna was the last surviving child of the late Domenic and Francesca (Russo) Farina.

Anna was a graduate of Wilby High School and worked as an assembler for local manufacturing firms, including GARMAC, the family bussiness, before her retirement. Throughout her 99 years, Anna was an active communicant of the Roman Catholic Church, most recently Mary Mother of the Church, SS Peter and Paul Church. Weekly attendance of mass was very important to her.

Family was everything to Anna. She was the best Mom; always patient, a good listener and an awesome cook. Her meatballs and sauce sometimes didn’t even make it to the table because her family would sneak them right out of the saucepan and make impromptu meatball subs on fresh Portugese rolls. Her chicken cutlets were amazing. Fond memories of Sunday family dinners, holidays, special occasions always featured Anna’s cooking. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be so terribly missed.

Ann leaves to cherish her love and memory her son Jerry Gardino of Waterbury, daughter Beverly (Jimmy) MacBurney of Waterbury and son Anthony (Marie) Gardino of Watertown. She also leaves her adoring grandchildren: Tara (Louis) Sanabria of Burlington, Jessica Gardino of Watertown, Tony (Kelly) Gardino of Watertown, Allison Gardino of Waterbury and great grandchildren Alexia, Matteo and Sofia Sanabria and Chase and Carter Gardino as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Anna was predeceased by her husband Gerald P Gardino, brothers Michael and August Farina and sister Florence Farina Susarchick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 11 am at Mary Mother of the Church/ SS Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. Burial will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery. The funeral procession will leave Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home Tuesday morning at 10:30 am.
