Mary Maynard Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Maynard, 62 formerly of New London Connecticut, passed away in her sleep April 11th 2026 at her home in Ledyard, Connecticut. She was born in New London, Connecticut January 24th 1964, the daughter of Raymond and Martha (Gerity) Haworth. She grew up in New London and graduated New London high School class of 1982. Throughout her life, Mary enjoyed taking care of family, friends, and loved ones. She selflessly made sacrifices out of nothing but pure love for them. Her protective nature stemmed from an unwavering instinct, acting as a fierce, vigilant, and nurturing safe place especially for her children.

Mary loved the beach and the warmer months would find her there with her granddaughter and daughter. She loved sunbathing and the sound of the crashing waves. She loved lounging around in her PJs being what she called "A lady of leisure."

Mary loved being a homemaker and took pride in keeping things clean and organized. She had an incredible eye for interior design. She loved shopping and had the ability to almost never pay full price for anything. Most of all, Mary looked forward to every weekend with her granddaughter Taylor, who was the absolute love of her life and whom she often referred to as her " little sauce." She took great pride and being Taylor's Mem, their bond was and always will be unbreakable.

Mary will be remembered for so many reasons. Her infectious smile, contagious laughter and her ability to find humor in just about anything. She truly was hilarious and never failed to make those around her laugh until their cheeks hurt. Her ability to overcome no matter what obstacle she faced in life, she was proudly celebrating 5 years of sobriety this year. She was beautiful, brilliant and unapologetically bold. She had a beautiful heart and took the opportunity to be someone's miracle and blessing whenever she could. She touched the lives of so many people while here on this earth, and has left a beautiful legacy of empathy, courage and unconditional love to her children whom she adored. Her love was a shield, she lived her life ensuring her children felt safe, loved and supported. She was the example I needed, to be the person and mom that I am today.

Mary was pre-deceased by her mother Martha (Gerity) Haworth, her father Raymond Haworth, her brother Robert "Bob" Haworth, and her brother John Haworth. She is survived by her husband John Maynard, her son Joshua Cairns, her daughter Allison Maynard, her son in law Joseph Richardson and their daughter, Taylor Richardson. She is also survived by her step daughter Tori Bulted and her son Jay, plus her daughter Bella-Grace, as well as her sister Jean (Jim) Perry, her sister Ann (Michael) Gallagher and her little brother Jim Haworth; her nephews Scott Gallagher, Eric Gallagher, Riley Haworth and her nieces Clare Gallagher, Brynn Haworth, and Kelly Haworth.
