Martha Ann Caesar

Martha Ann Caesar, 85, of Waterbury, CT, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.

Born on September 16, 1940, Martha was the beloved daughter of the late William Mitchell Sr. and Marjorie (Clapp) Mitchell. A proud graduate of Leavenworth High School, she went on to dedicate her life to caring for others. She worked at the Southbury Training School from 1980 until 2003 and later continued her service as a care aide with the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services.

Martha was a hardworking and generous woman, known for her unwavering dedication to both her faith and her family. A woman of deep spirituality, she was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church in Waterbury and actively involved in the Waterbury Senior Center.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures- listening to gospel music, enjoying dinners out, babysitting her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spending peaceful moments on her porch, admiring the beauty of nature.

Martha’s warmth, strength, and kindness touched everyone who knew her. Her legacy of love and faith will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

She is survived by her brother, Rodney Mitchell (Carol) of Waterbury, her sisters Ida Washington, of New York, and Maude Pendarvis, of Waterbury, and her beloved children- Keith Hoffler, Kim Hoffler, Tara Quinones (Noel), Thomas K. Mitchell Hoffler, AJ Freeman, Eric O’Neil Mitchell, Derek O’Neil- all of Waterbury, and Kris Alexander (Jared) of Bloomfield. Martha’s legacy of love is carried on in her grandchildren- Kenya, Kisha, Katora, Irving, Isaiah, Jahanna, Kiana, Taylor, and Noel Jr, her 9 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Martha now joins in Heaven her parents and her siblings- Kathleen Privott, William Mitchell Jr., Wilma Conley, and Marjorie Saunders-Overstreet.

Service information: Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Grace Baptist Church, 65 Kingsbury St, Waterbury, CT 06702. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and conclude at 12:00 p.m., and then a procession will leave from the church to New Pine Grove Cemetery, 850 Meriden Rd., Waterbury, CT 06705 where Martha will be laid to rest.
