Mark Polseno Obituary

Mark M. Polseno, 64, of Beacon Falls, entered into heavenly rest while surrounded by the love of his family at his home on Friday, October 8, 2021.  He was the loving husband of Janet (Murray) Polseno for over 37 years.  He was born May 14, 1957 in Bridgeport, CT; a son of the late Lewis and Sandra (Aguiar) Polseno.

Growing up in the Lordship section of Stratford, Mark, also known as “Pooch” by most, would spend time with family and friends by the water on Long Island Sound.  Mark was a talented artist, painting landscapes and portraits in many mediums from pastels and acrylics to painting on canvas or slate.

After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Mark became a substance abuse counselor, most recently working at Southwest Community Health Center.  He continued to sponsor many friends of Bill W.  assisting many to achieve and maintain sobriety and to live life one day at a time as he had done for the past 31 years.  He was a volunteer coordinator of AIDS walks in Bridgeport, always going above and beyond for his clients.  He was a caregiver, and a devoted friend to those who needed him.

Mark married Janet Murray Polseno, the love of his life, 37 years ago on June 9, 1984.  Together he and Janet raised their daughters, Melissa and Sandy, in Beacon Falls and were very active members of St. Michael’s Church where Mark was at one time a Eucharistic Minister.  Family was everything to Mark; they would spend time together on Candlewood Lake aboard their pontoon boat the “Expect Miracles” and go to Bluegrass Festivals.  Mark was a loving and devoted husband.  After Janet’s tragic stroke over six years ago, he was her tireless and loving caregiver despite his own declining health.  He was a testament to the adages: “Live life on life’s terms” “One day at a time” and “Expect Miracles”.  Mark spent his life taking care of other people.  Family was always first and foremost, friends were forever, and if you knew Pooch you were blessed.

Left to cherish Mark’s love and memory is his wife Janet Polseno, his daughters Melissa and her husband Kiel Stango of Waterbury and Sandra and husband Thomas Kaminski of Naugatuck, his grandchildren Ellison and Greyson Stango, a brother Kim and wife Mary Jane Polseno of Bridgeport, nieces and nephews, and his close friends who were like brothers: Mark Dempsey, Vinny Provenzano and Dave Meachen as well as many other friends.
