Mark A. Bassett, 59, formerly of Wolcott, CT passed away peacefully at Griffin Hospital. He was a son of Marcia (Nichols) Bassett of Florida and the late Peter Bassett of North Carolina. Mark spent much of his earlier years in California before returning to Connecticut.
His children remember him as a fearless outdoor adventurist, who loved hiking, playing frisbee and watching fireworks. Some of their fondest memories of building downhill sledding tracks in the backyard together will forever remind them of the laughter and excitement they shared. Mark was an acoustic guitar player and enjoyed the music of Neil Young, the Beatles, and 90’s rock bands as well as some self written song parodies - his beloved cats being the subject of many. As an avid reader, his home was like a library with wall to wall books. Mark enjoyed the company of his daughters in his later years. Their time together was very precious. He will be missed.
Left to cherish his love and memory besides his mother Marcia, are his daughters Allison Feeley and her wife Kate of Stratford and their children Averie and Joseph, Andrea Bassett and her boyfriend Michael Korowlotny of Waterbury as well as his brothers Matthew Bassett and his wife Stephanie of Hamden, and Peter Bassett of Durham, North Carolina. He also leaves his many friends at the Friendship Center which were like a second family to Mark. Mark was predeceased by his father Peter Bassett.
