Marjorie (Bonett) Smith, 102, formerly of Cheshire and Beacon Falls, loving wife of the late Russell E. Smith passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Vitas in St. Mary’s Hospital. Born March 11, 1921 to the late Beatrice and Perley Bonett in St. Johnsbury, Vt. until 1955 when she and her family moved to Connecticut.
Marjorie worked at the CT. Water Company for many years. She was an avid golfer all year round, as they had a home in Florida and “The Farm” in Danville, Vermont. She will be missed by all left behind who will cherish her love and memory.
Marjorie leaves: her daughters Pam Blasavage and her husband Eugene of Naugatuck and Kathy Shugdinis and her husband David of Beacon Falls, daughter-in-law Cheryl Smith as well as her four grandsons Gene and wife Angee, Michael and wife Sue, Matthew and wife April and Karl and wife Celine Blasavage, and four granddaughters Christy Florio and husband John, Amy Shugdinis, Sarah Smith and Jaime Peyton, 16 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Russell, Marjorie was predeceased by her sons Stephen and Bruce and her great-grandson Kevin.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect. Memorial Service will then begin at 12 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the spring.
