Marilew H. Hord, of Woodbury, Connecticut, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 3 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Edwin Hord, her son James E. Hord and his wife Kimberly Hord, her daughter Margaret M. Capron and her husband Chris Capron, and her grandchildren Ben, Blake, Will, Amelia, and Robert.
Marilew had an extensive career in the Health Science field. She began as a Registered Medical Technologist with the University of North Carolina. After working in laboratories in North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas, she earned an MPH in epidemiology from the University or Texas and worked at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. She later worked as a consultant for several pharmaceutical companies, checking laboratories’ compliance with research procedures. She retired in 2003 and she and her husband relocated in Woodbury, Connecticut.
Marilew enjoyed living in Woodbury and loved her St. Paul’s parish family. She enjoyed her activities with the Woman’s Club of Woodbury and especially enjoyed being close to her five grandchildren.
