Maria Lindao, 79, of Waterbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at her home on April 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on October 16, 1945, in Lousã, Portugal, to Manuel and Clara Rodrigues. As an adult Maria immigrated to the United States in pursuit of a better life, bringing with her a deep sense of resilience, dedication, and an unshakable love for her family. She built her life in Waterbury alongside her devoted husband, João Lindao, where they raised their daughters, Anabela Campos and Liza Fillie, with love, strength, and care.
Maria worked hard throughout her life, embodying hard work and sacrifice to help provide for her family. But her greatest pride and joy came from being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She helped raise not only her own children, but also played an active and loving role in the lives of her grandchildren—Alexis Feliciano, Erica Barbosa, and Dominique and Anthony Fillie —and her great-grandchildren—Milen Campos, Addison and Amelia Feliciano and Michael Jr and Elianna Barbosa.
Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and love. She had an amazing sense of humor, enjoyed sitting outside enjoying the beautiful weather, and her occasional trip to Dunkin’ Donuts for her coffee and French crawler. She was the heart of her family, a quiet force who offered unconditional support and a nurturing presence to everyone around her. Maria also shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Pepper, who was always by her side.
In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, Maria is also survived by her sister Manuela Seco, her son-in-law Vitorino Campos, and grand son-in-laws Alejandro Feliciano, and Michaela Barbosa. Maria was predeceased by her parents, and her siblings, Isabel Fernandes, and Ze Rodrigues of Portugal.
Maria’s legacy is one of love, selflessness, and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Catholic Academy of Waterbury Pre-K Program in her memory.
