Marcia Vidler Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marcia McCann Vidler, a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, who passed away on January 9, 2025, at the age of 66, after a courageous battle with complications of COVID-19. Marcia was born on February 22, 1958, and was a woman of boundless love, kindness, and strength.

She married her soulmate, Robert “Bob” Vidler, in 1985, and together they built a life full of joy, love, and cherished memories. Their greatest blessing came on February 14, 1992, with the birth of their son, Robert Vidler Jr. Marcia was a dedicated mother who loved her family deeply and supported them with everything she had.

In addition to her family, Marcia and her husband, Bob, spent several years providing foster care, offering love and support to children in need. Their time as foster parents reflected Marcia’s immense compassion and desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

For over 30 years, Marcia worked at Glendale Nursing Home in Prospect, Connecticut, where she was known for her compassion, dedication, and commitment to the well-being of others. Her caregiving spirit extended beyond her job and into her personal life, where she was always there for those she loved.

Marcia struggled for many years with early-onset dementia, but throughout her battle, she maintained a spirit of resilience and grace that inspired everyone around her. Despite the challenges, she remained a source of love and light to her family and friends.

Marcia was a devout Catholic, and she attended church every Sunday with her mother, a tradition that was an important part of her life. Her faith was a guiding force, and she was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Waterbury, Connecticut.

Marcia had a great love for her family, and she created lasting memories, including annual trips to Old Orchard Beach in Maine and birthday celebrations for her nieces, nephews, and loved ones. A devoted fan of Kenny Rogers, she was especially excited for his Christmas concerts, and her quirky love for clowns added a special charm to her vibrant personality.

Marcia was predeceased by her father, Marshall McCann; her mother, Frances Sarah McCann Hernandez; her stepfather, Confessor Hernandez; her brothers, Kevin and David McCann; her sisters, Cheryl and Bonnie; her niece, Fallon; and her nephews, Danny and Jason.

Marcia leaves behind her loving husband, Robert Vidler (Bob), and her cherished son, Robert Vidler Jr. She is also survived by her sister, Linda McCann; her brother, Terrence McCann; her nieces, Heather Albino, Lisa McCann, Kimberly Larson, and Ashley Larson; her nephew, Terrence McCann Jr.; and several great nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her deeply.
