Marc Ford Greene, 75, formerly of Washington, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024 at Danbury Hospital after a long illness. Born April 18, 1949 in New York, NY, Marc was a beloved son of the late Kenyon Watrous Greene and Mary Louise (Thierbach) Greene and sister of Annie Grajeda.
Marc was educated at Rumsey Hall in Washington, CT, Berkshire School in Mass., and The Gunnery in Washington, CT. He then went on to attain degrees from University of Chicago, McCormick Theological Seminary and Loyola Law School. Marc worked for Cooks County Juvenile Hall, then later as a lawyer for Cooks County and the Swedish Hospital in Chicago as a chaplain. He returned to Washington, CT after his mother’s death to the house his father built and worked for several law firms in Hartford and New Milford before setting up his own practice.
Marc was a multifaceted man of many talents and interests. As a young man, Marc was an active member with the Dramalites during summer productions. He was an avid bicyclist, could repair or customize any bike and was also was a classic car enthusiast, especially foreign models. He loved to read, knew French, German and was a student of Latin and Greek. He also loved his cats.
Cooking, entertaining and spending time with friends, old and new brought Marc much joy. His thoughtfulness in remembering birthdays and special occasions of old friends with a card sent or telephone call will always be treasured.
Marc is survived by his loving sister Annie and her husband Ruben Grajeda of Kirbyville, MO, and his cousins: Victoria and her husband John Maddux of Weaverville, NC, Katy and her husband Dion Lake of San Bernadino, CA, and Duty and his wife Rosa of Miami, FL. Marc also leaves his dear friends Tom Soper of Alaska, Dimitry Rimsky of Washington, CT and Tom Meyers of Southbury and numerous others. Marc was predeceased by his best friends John Soper, Bob King and long time partner Marsha Rabinowitz
A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Marc’s life will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 1 pm in the Serenity Garden Grounds of Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect. Visitation will be held in the garden from 12pm to 1 pm. Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with all arrangements and invites you to share your favorite photos, memories and words of comfort on Marc’s tribute wall on this website.
