Liliana M. Santa Maria

Liliana M. Santa Maria, 72, of Naugatuck, CT passed away peacefully on June 6th, 2024. Liliana was made comfortable with hospice services at Waterbury Hospital with loving family by her side after surviving two episodes of cancer and a decade-long battle with COPD. She was born in Trieste, Italy before moving to the U.S. at age 4 where she spent her life living in the Greater Waterbury area, mostly in Naugatuck. Prior to her illnesses Liliana was a hard-working independent woman with a decades long career as a setter operator in manufacturing/assembly at Global Steering Services in Watertown, CT. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking them on many trips to Misquamicut, Rhode Island among many other traditions and activities.

She was predeceased by her sister Elizabeth Engle. She is survived by her mother Gina Giusti of Naugatuck, CT; Brother William Engle of Las Vegas, NV; Brother John Soltanas, his wife Jennifer Soltanas, and their daughter/her niece Cailyn Soltanas of Middlebury, CT; Son Joseph T Santa Maria III and his wife Patricia Santa Maria of Naugatuck, CT; Grandson Joseph T Santa Maria IV, his husband Michael Santa Maria, and their son/her great-grandchild Ashton Santa Maria of Bristol, CT; and Grandson Mason Santa Maria of Middlebury, CT. Liliana will be remembered by her family for always offering a helping hand without needing to be asked, and for exemplifying what strength, resilience, and hard work can triumph.

A memorial service will take place at Propsect Memorial Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Road, Prospect, CT 06712 on June 12th, 2024 from 10am-12pm, with celebration of life luncheon to follow at Jesse Camille’s in Naugatuck at 12:30pm.
