Lawrence J. Renna, 77, of Prospect passed away peacefully while surrounded in the love of his family on November 25, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Larry was the loving husband of Robin (Barrett) Renna for over 42 wonderful years. Born October 14, 1947, he was a son of the late Louis and Barbara (Lawrence) Renna.
Larry was a graduate of Danbury High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. Upon return from service, Larry went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Western Connecticut State University. He spent his career as a bank examiner for the FDIC.
Robin and Larry married in July of 1982. They raised their family in Prospect. Larry coached and shared his love and talents of baseball for the Little League and the American Legion. He was a huge sports fan, cheering on the Jets, Yankees and UConn basketball and was a big fan of Indy and Nascar racing. Family vacations were always at the water, enjoying crabbing, fishing and touring lighthouses. In retirement, Larry and his brother Bruce, along with their friends, enjoyed playing golf weekly. His family was the center of his life and heart, with his happiest times centered around family.
Larry leaves to cherish his love and memory, beside his wife Robin, his daughter Megan of Mississippi, son Bryan of Waterbury, and son Nick and his wife Bridget of Meriden. Larry also leaves his brother Bruce and his wife Lisa of Danbury along with his niece Emily and nephew Andrew.
Funeral services for Larry will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 12 pm at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect. Interment with military honors will follow at Prospect Cemetery, Union City Rd. Prospect. Friends and family are invited to visit with Renna family at the funeral home from 10 am until the time of the service on Thursday.
