Kimberly DiBona Obituary

Beloved Wife, Mother, Sister and Friend

It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Kimberly Ann (Rinaldi) DiBona.  After a brave and valiant battle with breast cancer, Kim died peacefully at her home while enfolded in the love of her devoted family on Monday, January 27, 2025.  Kim leaves her beloved  husband and soulmate Jeffrey DiBona.  Born December 1, 1980 in Waterbury, she was the daughter of Gloria (Kunkler) Boutin and the late John Rinaldi.

Kim earned her Associate’s degree from Naugatuck Valley Community College and embarked on her career as a respiratory therapist with energy and compassion.  Shortly into her career, she was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer.  Kim touched and impacted so many in her short life.  Her bravery, loving compassion, determination and indominable spirit were contagious.  She fiercely loved her children, prioritizing their needs over everything.  Despite her own declining health, Kim was a strong and devoted mother.  She measured her life not in years but rather by the milestones of her children, every moment was precious.

Kim was adventurous, determined and a “Make it Happen” kind of petite warrior.  She did not back down from challenges. She still traveled with her family and went on retreats meeting so many friends and telling her story all around the country.  Her loving heart was evident in her care of others as a respiratory therapist and as a caregiver to her Dad in his illness.  She and Jeff were soulmates, their time together was not nearly long enough.  She loved her family and friends fiercely.   Kim leaves a lasting and beautiful print on all the lives of those she loved and who loved her.  Rock the heavens, Kim, and watch over your beautiful family.

Kim leaves to cherish her love and memory beside her husband Jeff, her cherished children Nicholas Rossi, Mia Rossi and Lino DiBona.  She also leaves her mother Gloria of Fla. and her brother Mike Rinaldi and wife Marie of Watertown, and a sister Shelley,  her mother and father in law Nick and Robin DiBona, and brother in laws: Anthony and wife Kristen DiBona and Steven and wife Maria DiBona all of Waterbury.  Kim also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who enriched her life.

Friends and family are invited to spend time with Kim’s family on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 1pm to 5pm at Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd, Prospect.  Funeral service will begin at 5 pm.  Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to care for the DiBona family during their time of grief.  You are invited to share your favorite photos, memories and words of comfort on Kim’s tribute wall at prospectmemorial.com

The DiBona family is so very thankful for the Ladies of Brave At Heart and Seymour Pink, their care and assistance over the past years was invaluable. Kim was also so very thankful for her mother In law Robin who spent every minute she could with Kim and all the numerous friends and family that she would lean on through the years.
