Kenneth Accuosti Obituary

Loving Husband, Father, Uncle and Grandfather,

Kenneth V. Accuosti, 92, of Prospect, passed away peacefully at home, while surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Ken was the loving husband and best friend of Laura (Ferrari) Accuosti for 65 years. Born on June 25, 1929 in Waterbury, CT, he was the youngest child of the late Vincent and Helen (DeRita) Accuosti. Ken was a graduate of Wilby High School; upon graduating he entered the US Navy in 1947. He was honorably discharged due to a medical condition which hindered his aspirations to become a pilot. He graduated from Wilby High School and while he and Laura were raising their daughters, he went on to attend college at Quinnipiac University. He was a member of the Delta Mu Delta National Business Honor Society, graduating with high honors earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Ken retired from the City of Waterbury where he was employed as a Computer Programmer/Analyst. Ken was a very intelligent man and will be fondly remembered for his wit and easy-going manner. Ken was a devoted family man, his daughters each had their own special relationship with him. He had a dry sense of humor and laughed out loud while watching Pink Panther movies and the nightly Johnny Carson Show. He enjoyed reading the newspaper, traveling and going to the casino.. Ken’s pastimes were shared with Laura while rooting for his favorite teams: the Red Sox , Giants and UCONN Women’s Basketball Team. Most of all, Ken treasured time spent with his family. He will be so sadly missed by his family and many dear friends. Left to honor his life and love are his wife Laura, daughters Marlene Caligari-Accuosti of Switzerland and Joanne Accuosti (Faheem Abdul-Lateef) of Waterbury, his beloved grandchildren Keegan, Janel, Roman, Jenna, Lauren and Adam and great granddaughter Nora Skye Rivera. He also leaves his niece Mary Ellen Spina who was more like a daughter to him, 7 nieces, 3 nephews, many cousins and friends. In particular, his best friend since childhood, Ernie Marinaro. Ken was predeceased by his eldest daughter Lori Accuosti, a brother William Accuosti and sister Jane Spina. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11 am at St. Anthony’s Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect. Burial will be at the convenience of his family. All those planning to attend mass are asked to meet directly at church.
