Keith A. Hagan, 66, of North Haven (formerly of Milford, CT) passed away peacefully in his sleep May 29th, 2026.
Keith, affectionately known as “Hoag”, was born in Bridgeport, CT on February 2, 1960 to Julia K. Hagan and Joseph Edward Hagan.
From baseball as a child; to running the 4 x 100m and hurdles in high school; basement parties on Wednesday nights; tending to his tropical fish; customizing fishing rods, to casting lures trying to snag the big one - his interest were varied and expanded over time. He was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything. He always had something to say about the weather and was passionate about history and current events.
Keith graduated from Joseph A. Foran High School in Milford, CT in 1978. Keith earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from Southampton College in Long Island. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hiking, camping, fishing, trapping and hunting and that love for the outdoors never left him.
In his sobriety, Keith embraced the fact that life is precious and time is limited. He lived through his strength and dedication to sobriety. During his most recent years, Keith lived on a retiree’s schedule. He always had something to do, whether tinkering on one of his latest projects, or working in his yard tending to the landscape and flowers.
Keith is survived by his beloved mother, Julia Hagan of Wallingford, brothers Kevin (and wife T) of Colchester, CT, and Richard Hagan of Southington, CT, his sister Sandy Hagan of Woodbridge, CT, his nephews Patrick Hagan and Derek Hagan, and niece Amanda Hagan, his friend since childhood, Rich Monocchi and many others with whom he shared a part of his time line. Keith was predeceased by his father Joseph Hagan.
Keith kept on hand the following words: “We play, we love and we celebrate the miracle of life every day, not because there is no grief, but because life is precious and time is limited.” Though Keith’s time on earth was limited, he has left to our safekeeping many memories and moments that brought a smile to not only his face but also to those who had the opportunity to know him. It is in hopes, that these moments will carry us through the days ahead. A gathering to celebrate Keith’s life will be determined at a later date.
