Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother and Friend

Judith S. Bridges, 85, of Prospect joined our Heavenly Father on August 10, 2021.  She was born in Wauseon, OH to the late Dale and Margaret Swanson.

Judy grew up in Indiana and attended Noblesville public schools. She graduated from Purdue University, West Lafayette, where she was awarded a B.A. degree in Home Economics.  While at Purdue, Judy met the love of her life, her husband Joel. They went on to raise their family in CT and ultimately celebrated forty-eight happy years together.

For 25 rewarding years, Judy served as a high school Home Economics teacher within the Portland Public Schools of CT. A strong work ethic and easy-going personality won her the respect of students and colleagues alike.  After retirement Judy moved to Old Forge, NY, and enjoyed many joyful  and active years snowmobiling, boating, and hiking within the Adirondack Mountains with Joel and her three Basset Hounds. After Joel’s passing, Judy returned to CT to be near her daughters and their families.

Judy leaves her two daughters, Jody (Carlos) Caetano of Somers, and Jill (Eric) Blewitt of Prospect, grandchildren CJ (Heather), Jason (Stefanie), Jessica (Ben), Audra, and Collin, and great grandchildren Cody, Caleb, Catherine, Anthony, Deven, Ethan, Ajalicia, Cynthia, Avery, Ellie, and Elise. She also leaves a sister-in-law Jeane, nieces Cheryl (Bruce), Mary Kay (Scott), Marla (Rick), Jean (Joe), and her dear friend Jack Ryan.  

A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Anthony Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect, CT on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 11 AM.  Please meet directly at church.  Burial is at the convenience of the family.

Judy’s family would like to thank her loving caregiver of five years, Yaa.
