John P Maroney

John Patrick Maroney “JP”, 57, of Watertown died unexpectedly at Waterbury Hospital on December 28, 2023.  Born May 12, 1966 in Waterbury, JP was the son of the late Edward R. Maroney Sr. and Eileen T. (Hussey) Maroney. 

John graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Haven.  He was a mechanical engineer before an accident disabled him.  Despite paralysis, JP kept his can-do attitude and assisted his mother in her later years.  He was an outgoing, hardworking guy who enjoyed a good time, his family and racing with buddies. 

Left to cherish his love and memory are his brother Edward “Ned” Maroney Jr of Pa., his nephew Tyler, niece Kai Sayers, many cousins, friends, and his best buddy, his dog Brody.  He is predeceased by his parents.

Arrangements:  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 10:30am at St. Anthony’s Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect.  Interment will immediately follow at All Saints Cemetery.  All those planning to attend services are asked to kindly meet directly at the church.  Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the funeral arrangements and caring for the Maroney family.  Your online condolences and words of support are greatly appreciated and can be shared at www.prospectmemorial.com.
