JoAnn Prasauckas Obituary

JoAnn Prasauckas (Weymer), 73, of Oakville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on November 10 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Born on July 17, 1952, in Waterbury, CT, to William and Flora (Cummings) Weymer, JoAnn grew up in her hometown before briefly residing in Middlebury after marriage and then making Oakville her home in 1980. She was predeceased by her sisters Ruth Ranslow, Virginia Schroeder, and Marjorie Franceschini, and her brothers Robert Weymer and William Weymer.

A graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Waterbury, JoAnn went on to complete nursing school and dedicate more than 40 years to healing others at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. She served with compassion and skill in the CCU, Telemetry, and Cardiac Rehab departments, touching countless lives with her expertise and kindness.

In 1977, JoAnn married the love of her life, Robert Prasauckas. They shared 38 joyful years together until his passing in 2016.

JoAnn’s greatest treasure was her family. She is survived by her sons, Craig Prasauckas and his wife Stacey of Oakville, and Mark Prasauckas and his fiancée Stephanie Cianchetti of Plainville; and her beloved grandchildren, Brady (her forever partner in crime) and Whitney (her sassy little bean) Prasauckas of Oakville, and her step-grandson Kobe Champagne of Oakville, with whom she cherished every moment.

Besides spending her time with her family, JoAnn enjoyed family trips to Walt Disney World as well as trips in the past with her husband to Las Vegas and Cape Cod, along with going camping, snowmobiling & attending NASCAR races with their group of friends.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Surgical ICU staff at Waterbury Hospital for their extraordinary, around-the-clock care.

JoAnn’s warmth, strength, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
