Jerome Sedlock Obituary

We are sorry to announce the passing of Jerome Charles Sedlock, of Watertown, Connecticut, who passed away in his home on June 9, 2026, at the age of 68.

Born on May 28, 1958, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Jerome built a life defined by craftsmanship, curiosity, and quiet determination. He began his career as a CNC machinist and toolmaker, working with the precision and care the trade demanded. He eventually owned and ran his own business, J&M Precision Manufacturing, in Cheshire. In his later years he found purpose as a grounds caretaker at Tranquility Vineyards in Middlebury, tending to the land and estate with the same steady hand, while teaching and training those around him to follow the same high standards that he always held for his own work.

Jerome was a remarkable self-taught man. He could teach himself anything, and whatever he set his mind to he pursued until he had mastered it. He wasn’t just an engineer, but also an avid musician who always kept a guitar within arms reach. The combination of his engineering precision and creative mind led him to many hobbies that consumed his time and dedication. Whether it was photography, rock hunting, lapidary, jewelry making, or woodworking, each one was a reflection of his patient eye and his gift for making something fine with his own hands. His photography collection, Painting With a Camera, was featured at Mattatuck Museum in 2017. His compassion extended to his feline companion, Miss Ellie, who had her own room and full reign of the house as chief mouse hunter.

He is survived by his son, Joshua Sedlock, and his daughter, Alicia Sedlock; his granddaughter, McKenna Sedlock; the mother of his children, Mary-Anne Sedlock; and his siblings, Terry D’Ausilio, Diane Kenny, and Gregory Sedlock. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Dolores Sedlock.

A celebration of Jerome’s life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jerome’s memory to Yale New Haven Medical Center, directed to the Fund for Smilow Cancer Hospital.
