Jeffrey Simaleavich, Sr. Obituary

Jeff was an amazing man, that had navigated an unbelievably challenging life. Born in Danbury CT, to Helen (Holland) and John Simaleavich, he quickly gained popularity with those that met him. Jeff had a way of making people laugh with his silly antics, and yet still motivate with his ambitious ideals of working hard for the things you want most.

Jeff was a full-time roofer for the majority of his life. In fact, he owned his own business years ago called "J&K Roofing". Many homes in the Fairfield area had their roofs done by Jeff. They were professionally done, due to his passion for the trade. I myself (his nephew) worked with him, in my younger years. He took me under his wing and helped guide me towards becoming a well-rounded adult.

Jeff's most dear hobby was fishing, a relaxing and yet exciting sport that he has done his entire life. Most times when he was free, you would find him out in the elements, searching for that perfect catch. One of his favorite places to cast out was Lake Candlewood. It was large and had an ample amount of trophy winning water-breathers.
Due to Jeff's fondness for his favorite watering hole, he managed to sway the infamous "Pirates Pride" scallywags into taking him aboard as one of their own. I know that it was his uncanny sense of humor and unlimited charming ways that even a swashbuckling Pirate couldn't turn away. Jeff was at home on the calm waters of Lake Candlewood, allowing him to be a free spirit and find a new family with the amazing people of Pirates Pride.
With Pirates Pride, the Captain and his buccaneers, which included Jeff, would sail along the full length of Candlewood Lake, pulling up to other boat-goers and docks to wave, handout beads, meet with families, bring wonders to children... and yes, perhaps have some walk the plank. A pirate's life is a busy one. Many in the community know of Pirates Pride and the dancing Pirate Jeff. They do this for the sheer joy of making others smile and to keep mystery in this world.
