James (Jim) Murray, 83, entered eternal life with his daughters by his side on May 6, 2025 after a short illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Elaine Murray, and companion Kathy Hickey.
Jim was a resident of Prospect CT and proudly served his town as a volunteer firefighter for over 25 years. Jim found joy in spending time with his family —playing golf, taking bike rides, tending to his yard, and indulging in a scoop (or two) of vanilla ice cream. Every March, he looked forward to his cherished month-long visit to The Villages in Florida, where he enjoyed nice restaurants, music in the town square and plenty of golf.
He is survived by his two loving daughters: Justine Daunis and her husband Robert of Plantsville and Shelly Roy and her fiancé Edward Riccio of Bristol. Jim was also a caring grandfather to his three grandchildren Amanda Daunis, Matthew Roy, and Kayleigh Roy, and to his two great grandsons Zachary Daunis and Zayden Gelinas.
Jim also leaves behind his work family at Contractor Products Inc., where he still worked. He leaves behind his business partner of 43 years Mark LaRossa, Steven Pesino who he worked alongside everyday at the Waterbury store and Elaine Achlioptas the office manager. Jim’s kindness and care also extended to business contractors, and customers alike.
All are welcome to meet with the family on Friday from 11:30am to 12:30 pm at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect followed by graveside service at 1 pm at Prospect Cemetery, 1 Union City Road in Prospect.
