Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Veteran and Nurse
James L. DePaulo passed on to heaven while enfolded in the love of his family on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Hartford Hospital. Jim was the devoted husband of Kathleen (Lefebvre) DePaulo for more than 48 blessed years. They met at nursing school and have been each other’s best friend and soulmate ever since. Born December 12, 1947, a son of the late John and Dorothy (Summers) DePaulo. Jim’s life reads as a testament of service, compassion and dedication to bettering the lives of others. He was the best father to his son James M. DePaulo and his wife Stacey of Thomaston and his daughter Laura Sharkey and husband Philip III of Bethany. Poppy was a doting fun-filled grandfather to Eowyn, Ryan and Ava. He also leaves his mother in law Eleanor Lefebvre, sister in law Gloria Ktistakis and her husband Kostas of Fla. and his brother in law Philip Lefebvre from Marlborough CT. His family was the center of Jim’s life.
Jim is a decorated US Navy veteran who received a Purple Heart during his service in the Vietnam war. After his return to civilian life, Jim earned his Bachelor’s degree in business from Post College. He continued to bring comfort and healing care to his patients while working at St. Mary’s Hospital for over 40 years.
As an avid photography buff, Jim perfected his skill over the years. Traveling around the world, he captured the images of many locations, his family and subject matter creating a permanent physical rendering of special moments. As Disney World and Hawaii were his favorite travel destinations, his family has amassed many fond memories of being there dozens of times. Fishing, watching Nascar racing and cheering on his favorite NY Giants and Yankees were a few of Jim’s favorite past times. And of course, Jim was a great cook, he poured love into every bite.
Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend; Jim leaves a rich tapestry of love, dedication and friendship. There were no strangers for Jim, they were just friends he hadn’t met yet. “Well done good and faithful servant, your work on earth is done”.
