James Calabro Obituary

James “Jimmy” Calabro died peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT.

Born July 12, 1968 in Havelock, North Carolina, he was the son of Frank E. Calabro of Cheshire, CT and Linda Kolodziej of York, South Carolina.

A graduate of Cheshire High School, as a teenager he worked at the Autumn House in Cheshire owned by his grandparents Frank and Marge Calabro. He was also the entertainment manager at his brother’s bar and restaurant “House of Rock” in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Jimmy booked all the live acts, karaoke, and he himself was the star of the show during his live DJ Du Rag Shows every Friday night. He also had a career as a professional painter. He had a huge passion for music of all genres and attended many live concerts with friends and family.

Jimmy was also the founder of “Food’s Up”, a Facebook group. He and his late best friend Matt Wilcox enjoyed creating, cooking, and sharing top home chef creations to share with their friends and following. Jimmy’s food community carries on continuing his legacy.

Left to honor his love and memory is his son Anthony Calabro and brothers: Frank Calabro, Jr., William Kolodziej, and Richard Bouchard, as well as his sisters: Tina Calabro, Jennifer Calabro, Mary Windt, and Cheryl Antonelli, and his very special Aunt Claire Signore. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly.

There are no services planned at this time. There will however be a family and friends get together on or near July 12, his 56th birthday to honor his memory. Please reach out to the family for more information.
