Jadvyga Butkevicius

Jadvyga Butkevicius, 99, of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Sunday March 13, 2022.  Jadvyga was the widow of Balys Bukevicius. She died just 5 weeks short of her 100th birthday which would have been April 18, 2022.  She was born in Grapsyciai, Kartena Lithuania, a daughter of the late Prana and Zofia (Ziausiene) Ziausys.

Jadvyga and her husband Balys emigrated from Lithuania to the United States with just one suitcase each.  They worked hard and raised their son Andrew in Waterbury.  Jadvyga was a “ward clerk” for Waterbury Hospital for many years on the Maternity unit.  She enjoyed camping trips to Maine with family and friends and being with her granddaughters and great granddaughter.

Left to treasure her love and memory are her son Andrew Butkevicius of Waterbury and her granddaughters Sarah Lewkow of Colorado and Jennifer Butkevicius of Maine, great granddaughter Hannah Lewkow as well as her niece Christina Lasky.
